“God In Other Religions” article featuring Rabbi Dr. Daum
Patricia Dutcher-Wall, Dean of Studies and Professor of Hebrew Bible at Vancouver School of Theology, recently published an article in the Presbyterian Record in June 2010 entitled, “God in Other Religions.” The article was one in a theology series “Where in the world is God?” run by this Presbyterian Church in Canada denominational magazine. She wrote, “We need to listen and learn respectfully to Canada’s variety of peoples, religions, and cultures, lest we inadvertently bear false witness against our neighbours by distorting who they are. For this article, I asked three colleagues to put in their own words answers to these questions: “Who or what is God or the divine in your religion? In what ways is divine presence in daily life understood in your religion?” The contributors to the article were Rabbi Dr. Robert Daum, Director of the Iona Pacific Inter-Religious Centre at VST, Kakushi Kate McCandless resident priest of Mountain Rain Zen Community in Vancouver, and Itrath Syed,a Muslim PhD student at Simon Fraser University who taught at VST last summer.
