“Reading with the neighbors”
On July 11, 2010, Rabbi Dr. Robert Daum, Director of Iona Pacific Inter-Religious Centre at VST gave his first address as Rabbinic Scholar in Residence at Christ Church Cathedral, Vancouver.
The appointment of Rabbi Dr. Robert Daum as Visiting Rabbi at Christ Church Anglican Cathedral gives expression to the Cathedral’s motto “Open Doors, Open Hearts and Open Minds” and arises from the deep respect and recognition of two traditions whose desire it is to work together for a better world. It is consistent with the mission of Iona Pacific Religious Centre’s mission of “drawing upon the world’s wisdom traditions in order to foster a common sense of purpose, respect for differences, and socially engaged learning with academic and lay leaders, elders and youth, from North America and beyond.”
As rabbinic scholar in residence Dr. Daum will teach from his tradition; the Cathedral community respects the integrity of his tradition and counts his presence in the congregation as a teacher and consultant to be a blessing from the one God our traditions have known in different and in similar ways.
