Collaborating with marginalized communities
Iona Pacific Inter-religious Centre at VST welcomed Roshan Thomas, who established an Early Childhood Development Centre in Kabul, at VST’s noon Commons Hour program on February 23. She addressed an enthusiastic audience at VST about her family’s commitment, inspired by her Ismaili Muslim faith and the teachings of His Highness the Aga Khan, to compassionate, collaborative development partnerships respectful of indigenous cultural traditions. Her family has volunteered in refugee camps in Pakistan and elsewhere in the world. Roshan Thomas’s background includes chairing the Aga Khan Education Board for BC, serving as president of the Khidma Foundation, and serving as a Board member of the International Baccalaureate in Geneva. She is a regular guest on CBC Radio, and was the keynote speaker at the National Conference of the Canadian Federation of University Women.
